Rostock

Beautiful Rostock is a lively port city with both soul and personality.

You can easily get there by ferry with Stena Line from Trelleborg - Rostock. Take the car, travel to Rostock  and explore all that northern Germany has to offer.  Rostock combines big-city flair with stunning Hansa architecture, a superb cultural scene, modern gastronomy and great shopping to make it and ideal destination for a short break or longer holiday. It’s home to the oldest university in Northern Europe, medieval churches, museums, city gates, traditional sea baths and so much more.

The area around Kröpeliner Tor Vorstad has many restaurants, bars and cafés for you to enjoy - it’s a great place to have a drink or a tasty evening meal. Rostock is an incredible city in which to shop - from Doberander Plats to Neuen Markt and from Universitetsplatsen to the harbour with its pedestrian streets such as Kröperliner Strasse.  In the Old Town visit the medieval Church of St. Mary and see the astronomical clock which dates back to 1472.  Take a trip to Warnemünde with the traditional sea baths, colorful stalls, small shops and popular restaurants & cafes. Take a leisurely walk on Graal – Müritz and enjoy the views out to the Baltic Sea.  In the evening the pier is often used by local fishermen and during the day you can hop on a ferry and explore the Baltic Sea more. In July every year, the Seebrückenfest Festival takes place where the opening of the pier is celebrated with fireworks.

Rostock Botanical Gardens has an arboretum and stunning alpine gardens as well as a Japanese garden.  

For families, Karls Erlebnis Dorf is a rustic, family-friendly adventure park with go-karting, a petting zoo & playground, plus a farm shop.  Kids will love it here. The wonderful farm market sells homemade strawberry jam, freshly baked bread, home décor and lots more. At Rostock Zoo you can see almost 1700 animals from over 250 different species from around the world.
