Dublin to Holyhead
Portsmouth to Santander
Santander to Plymouth
Fishguard to Rosslare
Took the Stena Line ferry from Dublin to Holyhead.
Enjoyed a relaxed drive through North Wales to historic Chester where we'd planned our first overnight stay. After dinner we joined the 'Night Ghost Tour' walk around the City. Next day more sightseeing and shopping and stayed a second night.
Set off early morning, driving through the Cotswolds and stopped for lunch in 'stylish' Cheltenham before continuing our drive down to Portsmouth to catch the 5.00pm Brittany Ferry MV Cap Finistère to Santander in Spain.
Smooth overnight crossing with dinner, cinema, and swimming in heated outdoor swimming pool next morning!
Beautiful views across Northern Spain as we sailed into Santander later in the afternoon. On arrival we took the short drive over the French border for our planned 3 day stay in Biarritz.
Watched surfboarding competition, took in film festival and, of course, plenty of French/ Basque cuisine.
Then drove up into the Pyrenees to Luz Saint Sauveur to join our 4 day guided mountain walking tour. Got picked up from our Hotel each morning to enjoy tiring but hugely rewarding adventures over hills and mountains! Car filling up with 'momentos' of the Pyrenees.
Time for City Life! Spectacular views driving down Spanish side of Pyrenees into Barcelona. 3 days of late night culture and luxury living.
Drive west to our next overnight stay in Pamplona taking in a Bodegas Muga vineyard tour on the way through the Rioja region. More shopping - car nearly full!
Spent the day shopping in Santander before catching 9.00pm overnight Brittany Ferry to Plymouth.
Arriving mid-afternoon we drove up to Bristol to stay with some old work friends; took a day trip to Longleat House with them before saying our goodbyes and heading for South Wales and Fishguard.
Fantastic two and half weeks, reminiscing trip on Stena Line ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare and drive home to Dublin.
