Student Ambassador Competition Terms and Conditions

Eligibility:                    

 

This Promotion is open to United Kingdom and Ireland residents aged 17 or over, excluding:

 

(a) Employees of the Promoter and their immediate families

(b) Employees of the Promoter’s subsidiaries or other group companies

(c) Agents or third parties acting on behalf of the Promoter

(d) Anyone professionally connected with this Promotion.

 

Maximum of 5 entries per person. Maximum of 1 prize per person can be won.

 

Valid student ID showing enrolment at a Republic of Ireland or United Kingdom university during the 2025/26 education year is required to enter this promotion.

 

Purchase of a Stena Line service across the Irish Sea is necessary to participate in this promotion. Please retain proof of purchase showing use of the Stena Line service during the Promotional Period.

 

Social Media           

 

Internet access required and entrants must have an active and public Instagram account. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one in order to participate – you will require an active email address in order to do this.

 

Maximum of five entries per person, regardless of the number of posts made during the Promotional Period. Anyone trying to circumvent this rule by using alternative details including but not limited to creating multiple accounts will be disqualified from this promotion.

 

The entrant entering the promotion must be the owner of the Instagram account used. Proof of ownership of the social media account and proof of age may be required.

 

Any entries received from private accounts on Instagram will not be entered due to privacy restrictions. To enter from a private account, participants must amend their account settings to a public account in order for their entry to be accepted.

 

Participants must continue to keep their Instagram account on a public setting for 4 weeks after the end of the promotional period in order to be contacted if they are selected as a winner.

 

Promotional Period:             

 

The promotion will run from 00:00 15/08/2025 to 23:59 18/10/2025 (the ‘’Promotional Period’’).

 

Entry:

 

Competition

 

To enter competition participants must use the Stena Line service across the Irish Sea, create a small piece of content of their on-board journey and post it to their Instagram account tagging @StenaLineUKIE during the Promotional Period.

 

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

 

  • Ability to capture a selection of, but not limited to, the following, 20%:
    • Ease of travel
    • Travel experience
    • Choice of lounges
    • Value of service
    • Choice of routes
    • Onward travel to university
  • Showcasing a person, or group of persons, enjoyment of the Stena Line, 20%
  • Creativity and originality, 40%
  • Honesty and authenticity, 20%

 

The technical excellence of the piece of content will not necessarily be a deciding factor.

 

The Promoter monitors participation in this promotion and if any responses or any previous posts made by an entrant are, or could be regarded, as being disrespectful towards other members of the Instagram communities or which contain anything which is likely to or could cause offence or distress will be disqualified from the promotion. Entries will be deemed invalid if any post:

 

  • Contains defamatory, malicious, indecent or other inappropriate content;
  • In the reasonable opinion of the Promoter, cause any widespread or serious offence (taking into account prevailing community views or standards);
  • Contains any content that is offensive or could reflect negatively on the name, reputation, or goodwill of the Promoter or any brand partner;
  • Defames, misrepresents, or contains content for the intended purpose of harassing, threatening or embarrassing individuals or multiple individuals or insults other people or companies, including, but not limited to the Promoter (including its partners);
  • Promotes any political, blasphemous or religious agenda or any content deemed to incite religious or racial hatred;
  • Contains images of third parties who have not expressly consented to feature in promotion;
  • Contains any images of children;
  • Contains any form of inaccurate tagging
  • Includes trademarks, logos, or copyrighted material not owned by the entrant or used without the right holder’s prior written permission (including famous names, company names, etc.);
  • Includes the name or image of any individual without their express permission;
  • Contains content deemed socially irresponsible or likely to breach the CAP Code;
  • Any Instagram name or profile photograph which contravenes the above will be void, and any entries will not count.

 

Entries (bulk or otherwise) made from trade, syndicates, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted. If it becomes apparent that a participant is reposting the same content multiple times or using a computer(s) to circumvent this or any other condition by, for example, the use of ‘script’, ‘brute force’ or any other automated means, that person’s entries will be disqualified and any prize award will be void.

 

Incomplete, illegible, invalid or misdirected entries will not be accepted. Proof of sending will not be accepted as proof of delivery. The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries delayed, incomplete or lost due to technical reasons or otherwise.

 

Prizes:

 

There is one (1) prize available to be won, consisting of:

 

 

It is a condition of accepting the Prize that the winner submits a short piece of content of approximately 1 minute in length to their Instagram account for each trip that they make.

 

The Promoter   reserves the right to request for changes to be made to the content piece before it is posted.

 

Each free Stena Line trip is for one (1) car and 2 passengers, booked via the Promoter’s travel team. The free Stena Line trips can be used to on the following lines (both ways):

 

  • Cairnryan – Belfast
  • Liverpool – Belfast
  • Holyhead – Dublin
  • Fishguard – Rosslare

 

All travel must be booked a minimum of 7 days in advance of the intended date of travel. Additional passengers, towed vehicles, Stena Plus or Hygge Lounge, Cabins and/or Superfast suites can be added to your booking for an additional fare.

No cash or other alternative prize will be provided in whole or in part, except that in the event of circumstances outside of its control, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a similar prize or part of a prize of equal or greater value. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be sold or auctioned.

 

Winner Selection:   

 

Competition

 

All entries received before the closing date will be judged on the criteria set out above within 14 days of the end of the promotion period, by a panel including at least one judge who is independent from the Promoter.

 

Winner Notification:

Winners will be contacted by direct message to the Instagram which they used to enter within 7 days and will have 14 days to confirm their email address, proof of ID (government issued photographic identification clearly showing date of birth) and that they are a student at a Republic of Ireland or United Kingdom university (valid student card showing enrolment during the 2025/26 education year) or college in order to claim their prize. County of residence will be requested for the purpose of the winners list if no objection is received.

 

In the event that they do not respond in time, reject the prize or are ineligible, another winner will be selected from the next best judged piece of content. The process will repeat until an eligible winner is able to claim the prize. Entrants are encouraged to monitor their  Instagram accounts during this time in case they are the winner including junk folders.

 

Prize Delivery:

 

The e-vouchers portion of the prize will be delivered to the winner via email to the email address provided on prize claim within 28 days of valid prize claim and the completion of the verification process.

 

The free Stena Line trips will be fulfilled in the form of a booking reference and details on how to use it to book each trip via email to the email address provided on prize claim within 28 days of valid prize claim and completion of the verification process.

 

Winners List: 

 

The Promoter will make available the winner’s surname and county of residence to members of the public or regulators who request such details within 3 months of the closing date of this promotion.

 

Entrants can object to disclosure, or request that disclosure be limited in scope by contacting prize@stenaline.com. We may nevertheless disclose the information to the Advertising Standards Authority if required to do so. You may request a copy of the winners list by emailing prize@stenaline.com. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse such requests.

 

Verification:   

 

The Promoter reserves the right to verify all entries including but not limited to asking for proof of purchase, address and ID including date of birth (passport, driving licence or equivalent form of identification that clearly states the entrant’s date of birth). The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to award a prize or withdraw prize entitlement and/or refuse further participation in the promotion and disqualify the participant where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the spirit of the promotion, any instructions forming part of this promotion’s entry requirements or otherwise where a participant has gained unfair advantage in participating or won using fraudulent means.

 

It is the responsibility of the entrant to provide correct, up-to-date details when entering the promotion. The Promoter cannot be held responsible for winners failing to supply accurate information which affects prize acceptance or delivery of their prize.

By participating in the promotion, the entrants license and grant the promoter an exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display such content for any purpose in any media, without compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability. Participants agree not to assert any moral rights in relation to such use where the moral rights in respect of the content are theirs to assert. Participants warrant that the materials contain no copyright materials, are their original works, have not been copied, in whole or in part, from any third party and they have full authority to grant these rights. Participants also warrant that any person featured has given their express permission and/or any child (under 18 years) has parental or guardian consent.

Numerous factors outside the control of the Promoter may interfere with the operation of Facebook, X and Instagram. The Promoter does not therefore guarantee continuous, uninterrupted or secure access to these websites.

 

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram. By entering the promotion, all participants accept that they have no claim against Instagram. By entering the promotion, all participants agree to a complete liability release for Instagram.

 

Liability:

 

If for any reason any aspect of this promotion is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, traffic congestion, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter may in its sole discretion cancel, modify or suspend the promotion or invalidate any affected entries.

 

If any act, omission, event or circumstance occurs which is beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter and which prevents the Promoter from complying with these terms and conditions (including but not limited to global or regional health crises, weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, epidemic, pandemic, famine, plague or other natural calamities and acts of God), the Promoter will not be liable for any failure to perform or delay in performing its obligations but will always endeavour to minimise the effect to participants in order to avoid undue disappointment.

 

The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any loss (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential loss or loss of profits), expense or damage which is suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person’s negligence) in connection with this promotion, the fulfilment of the prizes and/or the use of the prizes, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law (including personal injury, death and fraud) in which case that liability is limited to the minimum allowable by law.

 

The Promoter has no control over internet or communication networks and is not liable for any problems associated with them due to traffic congestion, technical malfunction or otherwise. The Promoter will not be held liable to any individual for any fraud committed by any third party nor for any event beyond its control including, but not limited to, user error and any network, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind which may restrict, delay or prevent a participant’s entry to the promotion.

 

If any of these clauses should be determined to be illegal, invalid or otherwise unenforceable then it shall be severed and deleted from these terms and conditions and the remaining clauses shall survive and remain in full force and effect.

 

The Promoter’s decision is final with regard to all promotional matters and no correspondence will be entered into.

 

These Terms and Conditions (and any non-contractual issues which arise out of or in connection with them) are governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales unless you live in another part of the United Kingdom in which case your local laws and courts will have jurisdiction.

The Promoter will only use the personal details supplied for the administration of the promotion and for no other purpose, unless we have your consent. Your personal details will at all times be kept confidential and in accordance with current Data Protection legislation.
