Cardiff

Cardiff by car. It’s incredible!

The city of Cardiff is Wales’ capital, but that’s not necessarily what makes it remarkable. This unassuming south Wales hotspot is nestled northeast of the Vale of Glamorgan, which is quite possibly Wales’ best kept secret…

So don’t tell anyone, but we happen to know that this beautiful part of Wales tends to get overlooked by visitors. So you can have those pretty villages, miles and miles of incredible coastline and acres of countryside mostly to yourselves!

Cardiff offers the best of all worlds: city, country and coast.   Sitting at the heart of the city, family-friendly Cardiff Castle is an opportunity to walk through history and is a must-do tour. The castle’s fairy-tale towers and incredible interior are begging to be photographed – so your Instagram will benefit too!

Cardiff is nothing if not a cultural city. National Museum Cardiff is home to the largest collection of Impressionist art outside of Paris, while the Museum of Cardiff takes you from the city’s roots in the 14th century right up to the present day. You’ll also find a wealth of alternative and edgy culture and creativity in the form of film, art and theatre at the Chapter Arts Centre.

The city’s once hiving docklands have now been transformed into a state-of-the-art waterfront, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle – while nearby you’ll find the architectural wonder that is Wales Millennium Centre. You might recognise it from the TV and, in terms of landmarks, it’s often compared to the Sydney Opera House, such is its iconic status.

If you’re looking for a destination that offers a blend of old and new, something for everyone, an adventurous food scene and easy access to some of the most incredible landscapes in the world, travel to Cardiff as it's the place for you!
