Please note, dogs cannot be accommodated on the Rail Link coach between Cairnryan and Ayr. However officially registered guide, hearing or assistance dogs will be able to travel on the coach with their owners free of charge.

Picking up a Rail & Sail Ticket from Belfast, Dublin or Rosslare Ports?

 

If your journey is starting from Belfast, Dublin or Rosslare Ports and you need to pick up your rail ticket before departure, then please call us on 03443 35 00 27 to make your booking by phone. Unfortunately it is not possible to pick up a ticket at these ports if you book it on The Trainline (below) or any other third party website or vendor.

 

If you are travelling from a rail station in Great Britain to Ireland, then you can book online below as normal.

 

Rail & Sail customers travelling with our partners on the Irish Sea can now upgrade their ferry journey.

 

Customers can book into the Stena Plus Lounge and enjoy relaxed seating, complimentary snacks and drinks, a dedicated menu with waiter service* and convenient charging points.

 

And those travelling with a pet can choose either the Pet Lounge (Belfast-Cairnryan) or a pet kennel to keep their furry friends comfortable while at sea.

When you book Rail & Sail through a third party, we do not hold your travel details. To match your upgrade to your sailing, please make sure you tell us the correct information. Unfortunately, you can’t get a refund if the details you give us are wrong.

 

Once you make your upgrade, we will email you to confirm the booking. This is not a ticket for travel – you must show your Rail & Sail ticket at check-in to travel on the ferry.

Tickets & Fees

The following fees apply when you buy train tickets using thetrainline.com

 

Booking your ticket

You can book up to 10 journeys in one transaction on our website – the booking fee would only be applied once. Mobile App: a booking fee applies to each transaction. Website & mobile website: a booking fee applies to each transaction.

 

Getting your ticket

Most delivery and ticket collection options are free. If you choose Next Day Delivery or International Delivery a fee will apply.

 

Paying for your ticket

There is no card charge for paying with a UK Debit Card. Using other cards will incur a charge.

 

Tickets on departure from mainline stations

If you intend to travel within the next 7 days please telephone 03443 35 00 27 and a ticket on departure can be arranged provided your departure station can accommodate this facility.

This service is only available to passengers who hold a valid e-mail address and can take the credit/debit card used to purchase their ticket with them. To obtain your rail ticket at the station on day of departure you will need the payment card used together with your rail collection booking reference which is different to your Stena Line booking reference, both these references are shown on your Stena Line e-ticket reservation advice. Failure to present your rail booking reference means that you will be unable to collect your train ticket and no refund will be due.

This telephone booking service is available Monday to Friday during office hours 09:00 - 17:00 hrs.

To discuss a booking already made, for security we can only discuss details of a booking, including cancellation or amendment of a ticket, with the owner of the card used to pay for the tickets. You can also change or cancel tickets online by logging into My Train Line Account.

Tickets on departure from Belfast Port

If you are travelling from Belfast to Cairnryan tickets can be booked up to 2 hours prior to departure and collected from the Belfast Travel Centre at Victoria Terminal 4.

Rail Travel

Rail travel is subject to the relevant terms and conditions of the particular railway undertaking and, where applicable, the provisions of the Convention concerning the International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) of 9 May 1980 including the Uniform Regulations concerning the contract of the International Rail Passenger and Luggage Traffic (CIV) contained in Appendix A of the Convention. General Information

Travel must be on the dates and times shown on your ticket. No break of journey is allowed other than to join connecting services.

If you travel on a different train or ferry to that booked, your ticket will be invalid and a full single fare will be payable.

Holyhead and Fishguard Advance single fares can only be purchased up to 18:00 hours the day before travel at train stations and 16:00 hours direct with Stena Line and are only valid on the date and train services shown on the ticket. Are subject to limited availability and if there is no availability a Standard single fare will be charged. You may not start, break, resume or end your journey at any intermediate station except to change from/to connecting trains shown on ticket or itinerary. Standard single fares can be purchased at any time and when Advance tickets are not available.

 

Prices

Prices are valid until further notice and may be subject to change.

For DART rail to Dublin an additional £1 per person single journey will be charged to the ticket price. Rail & Sail fares exclude travel on the LUAS system in Dublin and the London Underground.

 

Rail Link Bus between Cairnryan and Ayr return

Rail journeys commence or terminate at Ayr rail station and a dedicated Rail Link coach service will transport you direct to or from Loch Ryan Port.

The through Rail & Sail ticket includes the cost of the coach. Dogs or pets cannot be accommodated onboard the Rail Link coach however officially registered guide, hearing or assistance dogs will be able to travel on the coach with their owners free of charge. For guests with particular needs the Rail Link coach can accommodate one guest who needs to remain in their wheelchair for the duration of the coach journey per departure. It is very important to make a reservation as early as possible but no less than 48 hours before the date of intended travel. You must specifically advise Stena Line of your requirements. by telephone calling 03443 35 00 27 or by email to railbus@stenaline.com advising name, booking reference, date and time of outward and return travel and your requirements.

 

Cancellation and Amendment Charges

For customers bookings direct with Stena Line by phone and for any cancellations or amendments an administration fee will apply. For details concerning charges on tickets that have been issued, please call us on 03443 35 00 27 for further details. Advance fares are non refundable.

Carriage of Bicycles

Bicycles incur a £10 single charge with Stena Line and you are advised to check with the relevant railway operator that they can be carried on the train. Subject to availability of space.
