Maastricht Opening Hours

In Maastricht you really can shop til you drop!

Every shop’s opening hours will vary slightly, but the majority are open every week day and Saturdays from 9am until 6pm.

On a Monday most shops don’t open until 1pm and hairdressers, bakeries and butchers are closed all day.

Thursday is late night shopping night, with doors remaining open until 9pm and many shops in the city centre are now open on Sunday too from 12 noon.

Shopping Areas

The beautiful city centre of Maastricht has a lot to offer the dedicated shopper. From small boutiques selling Dutch design, modern department stores and designer outlets, to markets selling vintage collectibles, it’s hard to know where to begin. This shopping guide will ensure that you don’t miss out on any must-have purchases!

For exclusive fashion, head to the chic areas of Stokstraat and Rechtstraat. A sophisticated shopping street with a range of lovely boutiques, Rechtstraat  boasts exclusive fashion shops stocking big, well-known brands. On Stokstraat, behind the beautiful, monumental façades you will find the ‘crème de la crème’ of fashion -not for small budgets but very beautiful indeed!

The better-known chains and department stores are located along the Wyckerstraat and Maastrichterbrugstraat which, together with the Grote Staat, form the main shopping boulevard from the railway station to the Vrijthof.  New shopping centre Mosae Forum and three storey Entre Deux house many shops and department stores under one roof.

The Designer Outlet Roermond has an unparalleled collection of unique Dutch design rubbing shoulders with international brands, as does Maasmechelen Village outlet, just 20 minutes from Maastricht near the intersection of Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Souvenirs

With some of the best shopping in the region it will be impossible not to bring some souvenirs home with you. You can’t fail to pick up some quirky Dutch design pieces or vintage books and jewelry at one of Maastricht’s many markets.

For the more mainstream gifts hit the department stores for perfume and fashion. In and around the main tourist sites, there are many boutique stores selling souvenirs that will provide lasting memories of a wonderful trip.

Markets

It’s possible to visit a market every day of the week in Maastricht. Take your time searching through the various wares on display, surrounded by the scents of fresh vegetables and fruits, or perhaps lookout for that Dutch design furniture or vintage record that will complete your collection.

Don’t miss the Wares and Fish market, held in the city centre every Wednesday. On Friday it is the turn of the large general wares market - both take place on the large central Market square (Markt). Stationsstraat welcomes an organic farmers’ market on Thursday and a flea market every Saturday.
