With sailings from Cairnryan to Belfast, Holyhead to Dublin and Fishguard to Rosslare, you’ll be at the starting line of some of Ireland’s best rides. Here are two suggested itineraries to help you make the most of your day.

Single day route from Cairnryan

Time: Approximately 3.5 hours

Distance: 146 miles

The relatively short route through Northern Ireland truly plays the hits – and affords you plenty of time to stop and marvel. From Belfast, head straight up the Causeway Coastal Route, where unrivalled views across the North Channel zoom past. Explore the ruins of the medieval Dunluce Castle on the dramatic coastal cliffs before riding through The Dark Hedges, which doubled for The Kings Road on Game of Thrones®. Then it’s back to Belfast to catch the ferry home.

Single day route from Holyhead

Time: Approximately 4.5 hours

Distance: 213 miles

Leave the bustle of Dublin behind as you cruise along the coast of Muir Eireann and the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Take a break in Wexford, whose puffin and lighthouse-lined coastline is home to its gorgeous medieval namesake town. Then head north to further explore the “Ancient East,” including charming Kilkenny, before continuing past castles and countryside en route back to Dublin. This straightforward Dublin loop is built to accommodate detours – moving off the beaten path is strongly encouraged.
