The best way to explore the sights on your visit to Hannover is to follow the city's famous "Red Thread",a 4,200 metre long line painted along the road surface which will take you past Hannover’s main landmarks. The route passes through the old quarter (where you'll be able to see the Old Town Hall and Marktkirche church), the New Town Hall, several museums and Hannover's Opera House.

Hannover attractions

Among Hannover's collection of cultural attractions, you'll find the Schauspielhau, one of Germany’s foremost theatres,as well as the Sprengel Museum with its outstanding collection of 20th century art.

The banks of the Leine are home to art too, for that’s where you’ll find the controversial Nanas of artist Niki de Saint Phall, the artist uniquely recognised with the freedom of Hannover.

Visit the Royal Gardens at Herrenhausen and you can explore a variety of garden styles including baroque, botanical and English landscape. And for six summer evenings every year the Hannover International Firework Competition lights up the night sky over the Royal Gardens...
