On the route between Oslo - Frederikshavn the identification documents listed below are approved for citizens from the EU / EEA.
- A valid passport with MRZ code
- National identity card of EU Standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by a national authority within the EU / EEA
- For Nordic citizens only, a valid driving license issued in a Nordic country
Please note: a bank card with a photo is not a valid form of identification
This applies to all passengers. The traveller is responsible for having valid travel documents. Children under the age of 16 who travel with their parents do not normally need to show ID between the Nordic countries, but we recommend that they bring their passport due to increased border controls.
Should you wish to travel with someone else's children under the age of 18, a proxy form must be completed and presented in addition to the child's passport. This is because you can be stopped in passport control and asked to show a document that gives you the right to leave the country with the child.

For travellers from outside the EU / EEA, a passport is the only valid form of identification for adults and children.
