What documents do I need for travel to and from Sweden and Norway?

On Stena Line’s routes to and from the continent


On the routes between Germany & Sweden, Poland & Sweden, Latvia & Sweden and Germany & Latvia the ID documents listed below are approved for check-in.
• Passport with MRZ code
• National identity card of EU Standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by an national authority within the EU/EEA

This applies to all passengers, including children.

On Stena Line's routes between the Nordic countries


On the routes between Denmark & Sweden and Denmark & Norway, the identification documents listed below are approved for check-in and travel for citizens within the EU/EEA. For travellers from outside the EU/EEA, a passport is the only valid document and this also applies to children.
• A valid passport with MRZ code
• National identity card of EU Standard, containing MRZ code or chip, issued by a national authority within the EU/EEA
• For Nordic citizens only, a valid driving license issued in a Nordic country

 

This applies to all passengers, but children aged under 16 years, travelling with parent/parents are excepted and can travel on their parents' IDs.

The above rules are Stena Line's general rules for traveling with our ferries to and from Sweden and Norway. It is the traveller's obligation to check the type of documentation required before travelling.
