Queens Day
Queen’s Day

Wherever you go in Holland on 30th April you’ll find events and gatherings to mark the Dutch Queen’s birthday. Why not join in? Just remember to pack some orange clothes...

What is it? A nationwide 24-hour party in celebration of Queen Beatrix’s – the Dutch queen’s – birthday.
When? 30th April – although the party starts on the evening of the 29th.
Where are the best celebrations? Around a million people make their way they for the party in Amsterdam.

Freemarkets take place in the streets where everyone is free to trade – think of it as a nationwide car boot sale. There are carnival floats, parades, fireworks, street theatre, dancing, rock concerts and DJs.

To honour the royal House of Orange people traditionally wear orange – as do the streets, canal boats and even lots of the water around the city is dyed orange.

Join in on the festivities and book your place on a Stena Line ferry now.
