The Jordaan, home to art galleries, restaurants and boutiques
The famous painter Rembrandt van Rijn lived once in The Jordaan. The Jordaan district remains the artistic area of Amsterdam occupied by artists, students, and young entrepreneurs. This district is peaceful and vibrant at the same time. On Saturdays you will find the Lindenmarkt, a general market on the Lindengracht and on Mondays, a flea market at the Noordermarkt. When you are at the Noordermarkt you must try one of the best Dutch apple pies of Amsterdam on the terrace of cafe Winkel, with a beautiful view of the 17th Century church the ‘Noorderkerk’.
The variety of De Pijp
De Pijp is a melting pot neighbourhood. There are so many different cultures where you will find an multitude of ethnic restaurants like ‘The Bazar’. This restaurant with its Middle East and North African influences is located in an old church on the Albert Cuypstraat, where the famous and largest market of Holland takes place daily.
