Travel with pets

You and the whole family, including your pet can travel with Stena Line to Holland and the continent.

Stena Line is part of the government's Pet Travel Scheme, allowing travel to and from to the UK with your dog, cat or ferret when travelling on Stena Line's Harwich - Hook of Holland route. Stena Line and Dr. Mugford, Britain's leading animal behaviourist and psychologist, have teamed up to offer the following useful pet travel tips when travelling with your pet.

You can choose for your pet to travel in your car or in kennels that are available onboard the ship. We recommend that you visit your pet during the crossing to ensure the comfort of your pet and to give you piece of mind as pets are not allowed on passenger decks or in cabins.

Make sure your pet has a valid passport

To allow your pet to return to the UK with Stena Line, they must have a valid Pet Passport. This involves your pet being fitted with a microchip, vaccinated and blood-tested against rabies. This will take at least 21 days to complete, so be sure to plan well ahead.

It is important that you check the EU regulations to the Pet Travel Scheme by visiting www.defra.gov.uk or by calling 0870 241 1710. Please note that if you travel abroad with your pet without meeting the regulations of the Pet Travel Scheme, your pet may be placed into quarantine on its return to the UK for up to 6 months.

Guide Dogs
Guide dogs are allowed to travel on the passenger decks with their owners. Please contact Stena Line a few days before you travel on 08447 70 70 70 so that we can alert staff onboard the ship.

Places in the onboard kennels are limited. Book on line or call 08447 70 70 70 to secure a place as far in advance as possible.
