Travel by rail and sail to any city in Holland from just £35 with Stena Line

The ease of one ticket covering rail and ferry travel from the UK to any city in the Netherlands is growing in popularity with holidaymakers, with Stena Line reporting a 15 per cent year-on-year increase in traffic on its dutchflyer service, between 2008 and 2009.

Including a ferry crossing from Harwich and onward rail travel to any city across Holland, dutchflyer prices start from £35 per person one-way including rail travel from any National Express East Anglia station, including Cambridge; Colchester; Ipswich; Norwich and London Liverpool Street.

In the Netherlands, the train station is located just outside the port, making The Hague accessible in just under an hour on the NS rail system, and Amsterdam less than 90 minutes away. In 2010, both cities are playing host to ‘Holland Art Cities’, where together with Rotterdam and Utrecht, the four cities are promoting a cultural extravaganza showcasing more art and culture per square mile than any other country on earth.

Also easy by dutchflyer, Rotterdam is under an hour’s train ride from the port and this summer will be enticing sports fans from the UK when it plays host to the start of the 2010 Tour de France on the 3 and 4 July, including the participation of the first ever British team.

Lars Olsson, Stena Line’s commercial manager for travel on the North Sea, said, “We’re delighted at the rising popularity of Stena Line’s rail and sail service which we’ve witnessed over the past year and we’re confident that it’s related to the convenience of the all-in-one ticket. We’ve seen a particular increase in dutchflyer passengers taking the overnight ferries so that they arrive at their end destination early the next morning without having had to pay accommodation costs in euros or endure 4am check-in for a flight”.

Stena Line’s dutchflyer ticket can be booked to depart from London Liverpool Street or any National Express East Anglia station from just £35 one-way. Passengers can choose to cross the North Sea on day or night sailings, with cabins starting from £10.50 per person during the day, or from £18 per person overnight, based on two sharing. Onboard, passengers can enjoy a range of facilities, from two restaurants, the Food City and Metropolitan restaurant; two bars, Food City Bar and Riva Bar; an onboard shop; a cinema; free WiFi and the Stena Plus lounge.
