Important Fare Information and Conditions

Please note! Some sailings, especially at weekends throughout the year, can book up quickly, so please book as far in advance as you can to ensure you get the sailing you want.

The following conditions apply to all fares:

  • Full payment is required at time of booking. Payment may be made by major credit or debit card. A £3/€4 handling charge applies to credit card payments, no charge for debit cards. Payment may be made by cash or cheque, supported by a valid cheque guarantee card, at our travel centres only in person.
  • The prices shown on our website or in our brochures are applicable only for booking online. If you make a booking by telephone, or in person, we will charge you a £10/€15  service fee for a car inclusive booking or £2/€3 service fee for foot passenger bookings. The price is charged per booking - so book online and save!
  • If you wish to change or cancel your booking. You may cancel a travel only booking at any time prior to departure subject to the cancellation charges shown in respect of the motorist fare that you have purchased-Economy, Flexi or Premium. You may cancel a travel only booking over the telephone, via our website if the original booking was made via the web, or by informing us in writing. E.g. date, sailing, route etc. an amendment fee £20/€30 will be charged. If you wish to add extra items to your booking i.e. upgrade the cost of your booking, e.g. adding Stena Plus, this fee will not be charged.
  • You may cancel a travel-only booking over the telephone or by informing us in writing and the following Cancellation or Amendment charges will for Economy, Flexi and Premium fares will apply as follows: i. Economy - If you have purchased an Economy ticket changes to your ticket are permitted, subject to an amendment fee. In addition to the amendment fee, any difference in fare or cost of extra items added to your booking is also payable. Should you cancel your booking, no refund is due.
    ii. Flexi - If you have purchased a Flexi ticket changes to your ticket are permitted and no amendment fee is payable. However any difference in fare, or additional items added are payable. Should you wish to cancel your booking, you are entitled to a refund depending on how far in advance of travel you notify us. Cancellation terms for Flexi: (1) Cancel up to 14 days before travel: 100% refund. (2) Cancel up to 24 hours before travel: 75% refund. (3) Cancel on day of departure: No refund.
    iii. Premium - If you have purchased a Premium ticket you are entitled to express boarding, disembarkation and access to the Stena Plus Lounge. Changes are permitted and no amendment fee is payable. However any difference in fare, or additional items added are payable. If you cancel your booking, you are entitled to a refund depending on how far in advance of travel you notify us. Cancellation terms for Flexi (1) Cancel up to 24 hours before travel: 100% refund. (2) Cancel on day of departure: 50% refund.
    Bookings may only be cancelled by calling one of our reservation numbers or at our travel centres.
  • If you change the booking you must pay any difference in fare
  • Separate cancellations apply to package holidays booked by Stena Line Holidays Ltd. 
  • No refunds are payable for cancellation of day trip, sightseeing tours or mini-cruise bookings.
  • Stena Express operates from 14 May to 12 September 2009, subject to confirmation and has a maximum weight of 3 tons and maximum height of 3 metres.
    Sailing times and fares are subject to change.

    Long Vehicles :
    The fares shown in our brochure or on the web relate to vehicles up to 6 metres in length and trailer up to 8 metres in length. If your vehicle is over 6 metres long and /or 1.8m high or over, please call Stena Line Freight on UK -

    - MPV, 4x4 or car with roofload over 1.8m high - add £8/€10
    - Motorised Vehicle up to 6 metres long - add £25/€35
    - Motorised Vehicle 6 to 10 metres long - add £50/€75
    - Motorised Vehicle 10 to 12 metres long - add £80/€120

    To the motorised 6m vehicle online fare, traveling from Holyhead - Dublin Port, Holyhead - Dun Laoghaire, Fishguard - Rosslare, Stranraer - Belfast or Fleetwood - Larne. Stena Express operates from 14 May to 12 September 2009, subject to confirmation and has a maximum weight of 3 tons and maximum height of 3 metres
